It is now the time of year when late on a clear evening the sun can be seen from north Skye setting over the Western Isles. It is quite magical to be on the beach or sitting at the top of a hill watching across the sea and waiting for the sun to touch the horizon as the land around you glows red.
There are a plethora of locations – many not so well known – which offer unbeatable views to those who are willing to get out late on a summer’s evening (remember that summer sunset in the north is late).
The photographs here all involved at least a short walk, but nothing that could not be fitted into an evening after dinner, taking advantage of the long hours of daylight. Some of the more remote locations require a willingness to pack a headtorch and a requirement to be able to navigate off the hills in low light.
